We’re going to my niece’s 1st birthday on Sunday so I’m thinking of what to give her.  I realized that there are so many things one-year old’s need.

Toys

1. Musical toys (anything that elicits sounds)
2. Educational (ABC’s, rhymes, etc. to enhance the skills esp. language)
3. Blocks (to enhance cognition, problem-solving skills and creativity)
4. Instruments (babies just love instruments.  My Ria likes her drums)
5. sorter (to enhance problem solving skills and identify shapes)
6. colorful toys (much better if they have moving parts)

Books

1. ABC’s (Ria’s pedia recommends ABC first before words)
2. numbers
3. first words
4. story books (hardbound so they can last long.  Babies cannot control their hands and they just want to rip every paper that they can see)
5. Coloring books (although babies cannot color properly, they want to scribble with colors)

Protection and Hygiene

1. Cebo de Macho and Vitamin A & E (you can’t control your baby from running and most of the time, she’ll have wounds and bruises.  These will prevent scars and infection)
2. Lots of powder (with gawgaw during summer)
3. Toothbrush with soft bristles
4. Safe-to-swallow toothpaste (Pigeon has this product.  It costs around P200)

Others

1. Sippy cup (with cute design.  Start training your child to drink from a cup)
2. Cute dining set (plates, spoon and fork, cups.  Most likely, toddlers are easily bored with what they usually see.  So you should have cute plates para pwede mo pa maloko na may story yung plate..hehe)
