Last September 25, 2013, Ria’s class visited our house in Manhattan Parkway as part of their lesson “parts of the house.” The students were accompanied by their two teachers (T. Coi and T. Jam), one aide (Kuya Mel) and the School Directress (Teacher Janette). The whole visit was like a riot of kiddos. Ria’s teachers told us that she was different that day, she was very happy and excited. They never saw her like that. She was also a pasimuno of kaguluhan. When we were inside the bedroom, it was she who went onto the bed first so her classmates followed her. But it was ok for us, they’re kids!
Me and dann discussed the parts of the house while we tour them to the different rooms such as living room, kitchen, dining area, bathroom and bedroom.
They sang some songs like “This is my house” and “Up to the Ceiling”. When they were asked to stand up for the songs, nagsiguluhan ang mga bulilit. The school directress said “pag pinatayo, kanya kanya” hehe..It’s as if they have their own worlds.
The one beside Ria, the small curly girl in front is Nikki, Ria’s “bestfriend” It was because Nikki had a hard time adjusting to the school environment so she needed to have a companion she knows inside the room. It was just two weeks before they visited our house that Nikki got to adjust. During the times that Nikki was crying, the teachers asked Ria to sit beside her since Ria did not experience separation anxiety. So they thought it would influence Nikki to be confident. So Ria sat beside her, put her arms around Nikki and even wiped Nikki’s tears. T. Janette said whenever a classmate is crying, they will let Ria sit beside him/her so Ria could comfort that kid. They also said that Ria is the most mature among the class. That she shows care to whoever is seating beside her.
We served snacks for the kids. We bought oreo cookies and milk magic chocolate drink. That was the only time that the kids were silent. Peace and order suddenly hit the house.
Since Ria was so proud and excited that they were in her house, she took out some of her things such as her books and coin bank. She went to teacher Janette to show her coin bank. Then T. Janette brought out some coins and let the kids put them in the coin bank. Yeah, Ria gained from this. She didn’t expect that she will be given coins 🙂 When there were no more coins, one kid wanted to put his cookie inside the coin bank..haha..so cute!
The kids also went out to the garden and waited for the train to pass by. They were so excited and enjoyed running all over the place.
By around 1pm, it’s time for them to go. They went back to their school and Ria joined them. We just fetched her by 1.30 🙂
