Ria on her Second Quarter at Learn and Play

Last November 16, we had our second PTC.  We were actually glad to hear Ria’s improvements since our last talk with her teachers.

In Learn and Play, academic excellence measures all aspects of the learning field of each child.  The grading system does not focus merely on the intelligence but emotional, social and physical aspects as well.  Here are the summary of our almost an hour talk.

Improved social skills

She has improved so much in this field.  She greets her teachers and classmates as well as Kuya Mel.  She engages in talks with other people, especially adults.  She can comfortably speak with her teachers and tell them what she wants.  We’re happy with this as this is the reason why we want her to be in school.

Outside of her school, she can easily adjust when there are other people that she does not see everyday.  It will take her just minutes to talk with other people unlike before when she really didn’t want to talk to anyone.

Advanced speaking skills

Her teachers told us that her close “friends” are now different, unlike the first quarter.  Now, when we ask her who are her friends, she will constantly tell us Ginuell and another classmate (I forgot his name).  Last quarter, her best friend was Nikkilyn.

They told us that her circle composes of kids that can construct sentences when speaking.  Not all her classmates can speak in sentences, just words.  So she goes with her classmates with the same speaking skill as her.

Teaches her classmates

Yes, when they have an activity, she helps her classmates if they do not know what to do.  As an example, they were asked to arrange the number blocks from 1-9.  So she helped her classmate and said “hindi ganyan”

Hahaha..ok, good luck sa mga susunod na taon.

Improvements in physical/motor skills

She received several happy faces from progress lines such as turning in corners without falling.

Listening comprehension

Her teachers said she can really understand the stories read to them as they are given activities related to the stories.  This is a good sign, madaling makaintindi..pero bakit sa mga bawal hindi??.hehe

Academics

She knows her letters and numbers although she doesn’t know the alphabet sounds (ok, this is our fault).  Whenever they have a new lesson, her teachers ask her for the letter or number and she will answer.  Pressure naman para sa mga susunod. haha

Good follower

This is the story.

Her classmate pushed her unconsciously but she treated it as inaway sya.  She told her teacher and she was told just to move to other chair whenever that classmate is near. And so that was what she did ever since.

Bakit samin hindi sumunod?? :))

Participation in class

She sings and dances, separately. hahaha..walang coordination. She sings but will not dance or she dances but will not sing.  Though there are times that she will do them both or participate in physical activities ONLY when she wants to.  DIVA??. We were told to expose her more with nursery rhymes and other songs with movements to encourage her to participate in class whenever they have movements or dance.  I just hope she will dance on there Christmas Program. tsk

Still into puzzles

She really likes puzzles ever since! After she was addicted to the blue blocks, her next favorite toy was the bottle of clips.  She attaches the clips to each other and make a chain, of which she will hand to her teacher and make it her necklace.

She’s really into puzzles.  She’s more interested in solving puzzles.

Sorting and arranging things

She wants to sort things.  Her teachers told us that she will put back the toys that she used to their proper places.  Sometimes, she will tell her teachers whenever there are toys that are not in their proper places.  An OC, indeed.  So we told them how she arranges her crayons (arranging the inside like the outside)

Independent

Yes, she can do things on her own.  Eat without assistance and pack away her things after using.  She doesn’t need supervision when it comes to their routine activities.  She’s described by her teachers are independent. She can follow directions and do them even without the teacher. 🙂

Well, so far so good! 🙂 Next quarter ulit, we’ll see how she handles her progress lines 🙂
