During our last pedia visit, JJ’s doctor told me that she was waiting for my posts about him just like what I did when Ria was still a baby.  That made me realize, oo nga no, I do not have monthly posts about his developments.

Anyway, JJ is now 15 months old.  He transformed from a thin baby to a chubby-cute baby.  It was his weight that we were concerned before he reached 6 months.  Looking at the weight chart, he was way below the ‘severely underweight’ category.  One mommy said his category is ‘wasted’ as what one pedia told her (because his son was like that before, too).

When JJ reached 6 months, he was ready to eat solids.  We started with baby-led weaning but his weight really bothered us.  Until I was given a chance to attend the “Tamang KAIN (TK) seminar” hosted by Breastfeeding Pinays.

It was then that I learned the correct way of feeding the baby.  TK is based on World Health Organization’s complimentary feeding (breastfeeding plus feeding solids).  We offered vegetables, delayed meat intake until one year old, offered fresh juices like calamansi, camote, etc.  I used to saute vegetables for him with the important components of roots, stem, fruit, leaves and seed.

At 7.5 months, he started to gain weight and reached the normal weight for his age.  Although many doctors say that weight is just one of the measurements for health, as long as the baby is active and hitting milestones, he or she is ok.

One Year Old

JJ started walking at age 1 year and 2 months.  We were a bit worried because he was so afraid to stand on his own.  But then, with practice and patience, he did it! Ngayon, super likot na niya. He wants to move around the house, get this and that, throw this and that…oh, throwing! He likes to throw anything outside the window! Kaya minsan, yung helper namin would go outside to pick up what he threw.

He can do close open, appear, good bye, kiss (with an open mouth na parang gusto ka niyang kagatin!), align, bless, and wave hi.

He is charming, unlike Ria who was so shy before.  He wants to interact with different people.  He smiles and waves even if he doesn’t know those people.  Generally, he is a happy baby.
