Me and my daughter decided to donate our hair last May to cancer patients through Cuts Against Cancer. We want to teach our daughter the importance of sharing at an early age. Sharing beyond toys (to her playmates) but sharing to those who are in need. It was an easy process to convince my daughter. She did not want to have short hair at first but when I explained to her what will happen to her hair after, she gladly said yes to my offer. In fact, she was so excited to have our hair cut that she asked me every month. But since there’s a length requirement, it took us few more months before we donated our hair.

Here are the reminders if you want to donate your hair (picked up from their website)
REMINDERS BEFORE CUTTING YOUR HAIR
IMPORTANT: Please review the entire content of this page before cutting your hair for donation. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of this page, past the Hair Donation Form to see specific Hair Cutting, Shipping and Donation Details.
AFTER SHIPPING or DROPPING OFF your Donated Hair, PLEASE COMPLETE OUR HAIR DONATION FORM. Thanks.
– We CANNOT use Donated Hair which is under 12 inches. [It presents tremendous difficulty if the hair strands are too short to sew and secure to the Medical Cap]
– We CANNOT use hair which has been colored/dyed, permed, or bonded. [Processed hair is too dry, weak, brittle, and coarse. It breaks, tangles, and sheds easily, splitting ends during the manufacturing of the prosthesis]
– Hair which is poor in quality CANNOT be used and will also be rejected. It creates a Medical Wig of poor quality and is NOT acceptable. It will only embarrass the patients for whom your advocacy represents.
We are sorry , but there can be NO EXCEPTIONS TO THE RULES ABOVE. HAIR WHICH IS OF POOR QUALITY, TOO SHORT, OR PROCESSED WILL BE REJECTED AND CANNOT BE SHIPPED BACK TO YOU.
“So there you have it guys, this is a recent note from the factory which makes our Medical Wigs for Donation. These are their new guidelines.”
